Christchurch anarchist group the Anarchist Round Table has moved into an office in InterActive, the new activist centre at 222 High Street

ART was one of several groups involved in setting up the centre, which aims to promote social and environmental activism in the city.

InterActive is used as a meeting space by a number of local groups, such as Amnesty International and the Peace Action Network. It was also used recently to hold a talk by Ciaron O'Rielly as part of his New Zealand speaking tour. It is also home to Otautahi's Indymedia collective.

ART is also pleased to announce that NORML chch has decided to become part of the InterActive family and will be sharing an office with Green Youth Aoraki.

...wellington anarchist bookstore faces eviction

Wellington anarchist bookstore the Freedom Shop and several residences and businesses on Wellington's Upper Cuba Street have been served with eviction notices. Residences and business owners have been told to vacate their premises be Janurary 18th 2002 to make way for the planned Wellington Bypass.

Locals have vowed not to go down with out a fight, and have called for supporters around the country to gather in Wellington to join them in direct action against the evictions.
